Ukrzaliznytsia is testing passenger transportation by train and bus on routes near the front lines
On October 1, Ukrzaliznytsia launched a pilot project for combined passenger transportation using a “train + bus” system in regions near the front lines. On designated routes, passengers will be transported by bus to ensure that transportation services remain available.
Railway officials are implementing the project in collaboration with the Ministry of Recovery, Infrastructure, and Transport of Ukraine and regional military administrations. The pilot service is being introduced for passengers in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions.
Thus, on days when a Ukrzaliznytsia train cannot travel directly to or from its destination for safety reasons, Ukrzaliznytsia will organize a combined service—train plus bus. In the event of delays, the trains and buses will wait for one another, and Ukrzaliznytsia’s monitoring centers will track any potential threats.
Transfer tickets for several upcoming dates are already available in the Ukrzaliznytsia app. This initiative will not affect the availability or cost of a full-fare ticket.
This was reported by Ukrzaliznytsia.
Ukrzaliznytsia is beginning to collect personal data when tickets are purchased.
As a reminder, Ukrzaliznytsia passengers can now order Ukrainian books when purchasing tickets for select international and domestic routes. The purchased book will be waiting for the passenger in the train car at the start of the trip.
Ukrzaliznytsia has stopped paying mobilized employees their average monthly salary. Instead, the company has introduced a one-time financial assistance payment following mobilization and upon veterans’ return to work.
