The government plans to cut more than 4,000 positions and 20% of deputy minister posts
Ukraine is beginning to streamline its government apparatus. In the first phase, the government plans to eliminate more than 4,000 vacant positions.
Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi stated that an assessment of the government’s effectiveness is currently underway, which should determine the actual need for personnel.
The government also plans to reduce the number of deputy ministers by approximately 20 percent. They aim to reduce the number of deputy heads of other central executive bodies by nearly 18 percent.
Separately, there are plans to reform the civil service training system. The government intends to tailor training to specific positions and introduce special internships for young people. A separate training program for veterans is also planned.
To coordinate the reform, the Council on Public Administration has resumed its work, comprising representatives from the government, parliament, and the expert community.
