A powerful hailstorm hit Uzhhorod; the hailstones were the size of a walnut
On the afternoon of July 27, a severe storm raged in Uzhhorod—the city was pelted with large hailstones. In some places, the hailstones were as big as walnuts.
At the same time, a heavy downpour hit Mukachevo. Residents of Zakarpattia are urged to exercise caution during adverse weather conditions and, if possible, to park their cars under cover due to squally winds and heavy precipitation.
Local resident Anna Haviy wrote that this was the first time in her life she had seen such severe weather. “Not a single living plant remained,” she emphasized, sharing photos of the aftermath.
The Transcarpathian Regional Center for Hydrometeorology had previously warned of deteriorating weather conditions. According to forecasters, significant precipitation was expected across most of the region on July 27–28. They also warned of possible wind speeds reaching 15–20 m/s. Residents of Zakarpattia were urged to exercise caution and, if possible, avoid being outdoors during the storm.
