In Ivano-Frankivsk, a city council member was detained while receiving 60,000 hryvnias in illicit benefits. According to the investigation, the official demanded money from the director of a local construction company in exchange for leasing warehouse space.
“In Ivano-Frankivsk, a member of the Ivano-Frankivsk City Council, who serves as the acting head of a state agency, was caught taking a bribe. The official was caught red-handed while receiving a 60,000 hryvnia bribe. He was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine,” the prosecutor’s office stated in a press release.
According to investigators, the official demanded and received an unlawful benefit from the director of a local construction company in exchange for facilitating the lease of warehouse facilities.
The property in question is located on Chornovola Street in Ivano-Frankivsk and is managed by the State Property Fund and administered by the relevant state agency.
According to the prosecutor’s office, in July 2026, the entrepreneur approached the official regarding the lease of the premises. The official agreed to enter into a contract but imposed an additional condition.
“It has been established that in July 2026, the entrepreneur approached the official regarding the lease. The deputy agreed to sign the contract but set a condition: in addition to the official payments, the businessman was to pay him personally an additional 10,000 UAH ‘on top’ each month. He demanded that the money be paid immediately for half a year in advance,” the regional prosecutor’s office reported.
Thus, the illegal payment for six months was to total 60,000 hryvnias.
According to law enforcement officials, the transfer of funds took place on August 31 at a government office.
After receiving the money, the deputy was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Law enforcement officials informed the detainee that he is suspected of violating Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—the acceptance of an unlawful benefit by a public official.

The issue of imposing a preventive measure on the deputy is currently being decided.
At the same time, the final legal assessment of the official’s actions must be made by the court. The mere fact of being notified of suspicion does not imply a finding of guilt, and the person is presumed innocent until a court conviction becomes final.
