Odesa has declared a day of mourning for those killed in the March 28 attack

The Odesa City Council has officially declared April 1, 2026, a day of mourning following the deaths of three people during enemy shelling. 

The Odesa City Council announced this on Telegram.

In memory of the victims of the tragedy, the Ukrainian national flag and the flag of Odesa with black ribbons will be flown at half-mast on the city’s administrative buildings. City authorities also called on businesses and organizations to limit entertainment events and the use of music throughout the day.

Law enforcement agencies and emergency services continue to document the aftermath of the attack, which occurred in late March. The declaration of mourning is part of efforts to support the families of the deceased and a demonstration of community solidarity amid ongoing shelling. Currently, the situation in the city is under the control of the local administration, and residents are urged to follow safety guidelines during air raid alerts.

The Odesa City Military Administration reported extensive damage to residential buildings in the Primorsky, Kyivsky, and Khadzhibey districts of the city as a result of Russian shelling on March 28, 2026.

A 76-year-old man who sustained severe injuries during the enemy attack on March 28 died in an Odesa hospital. Thus, the death toll from Russia’s attack on March 28 has risen to three.
