Ukraine has begun distributing one-time payments of 1,500 hryvnias to pensioners and vulnerable groups.
This was announced byMinister of Social Policy, Family, and Unity Denys Ulyutin.
"Starting today, we are beginning payments of 1,500 UAH. The payment will be made as a one-time payment during April," Ulyutin said during a national telethon on Tuesday.
The minister explained that on March 6, funds were redirected to provide this support to 540,000 pensioners who receive payments through "Ukrposhta."
According to him, the funds will be transferred to card accounts as early as this week, and through Ukrposhta branches, the assistance will be delivered along with the pension on the scheduled date.
Ulyutin also emphasized that these funds are not earmarked and can be used for any purpose without restrictions.
As reported, on March 18, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a program for a one-time payment of 1,500 UAH in April for pensioners and vulnerable groups.
It is specified that among the recipients of the supplement are old-age pensioners, disability pensioners, recipients of survivor’s pensions, and pensioners with long-service pensions who are eligible for an old-age pension (the pension amount must not exceed 25,595 UAH, as well as for war veterans who have participated in the defense of Ukraine since 2014; for individuals among the liquidators of the Chernobyl NPP accident, 1,500 UAH will be provided regardless of the amount of the pension received); recipients of state assistance/compensation (including those established for each recipient of assistance/compensation): for living expenses among IDPs; as low-income families; basic social assistance; as individuals who are not entitled to a pension and became eligible for assistance after turning 65, as individuals with disabilities who are not entitled to a pension, and dependents of a deceased breadwinner who did not receive a pension; those living with a person with a Group I or II disability due to a mental disorder; persons with disabilities since childhood and children with disabilities; children raised in large families; single mothers; children under guardianship or custody; children with severe perinatal nervous system disorders; children whose parents evade child support payments; orphans and children deprived of parental care, including those with disabilities, who are placed in family-type children’s homes and foster families.
Targeted social payments in April will be calculated automatically.
As a reminder, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, on the instructions of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is preparing a large-scale social assistance package that includes direct cash payments and compensation for energy costs.
