The High Anti-Corruption Court upheld the confiscation of the mayor of Sambir’s Audi Q7
The Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court upheld the position of the prosecutor from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office and left unchanged the decision on the civil forfeiture of the Audi Q7 used by Sambir Mayor Yuriy Hamar.
The court upheld the High Anti-Corruption Court’s (HACC) decision of September 29, 2025, which deemed the vehicle an unjustified asset and ordered it to be forfeited to the state.
“On June 23, 2026, the Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court upheld the position of the prosecutor from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office and upheld the High Anti-Corruption Court’s decision of September 29, 2025. This decision recognized the asset used by Sambir Mayor Yuriy Hamar as unjustified and ordered its forfeiture to the state (civil forfeiture). “The asset in question is a 2023 Audi Q7 valued at 4.2 million hryvnias,” the statement reads.
The SAP noted that, according to the investigation materials, the vehicle was registered in 2023 in the name of the official’s daughter; however, the mayor remained the actual user, as he had the ability to control and dispose of the vehicle.
“Based on evidence gathered by NABU investigators in collaboration with SAPO prosecutors, it has been established that in 2023, the mayor’s daughter acquired ownership of the vehicle. At the same time, the investigation gathered sufficient evidence indicating that after the purchase, the car was used exclusively by the mayor. Furthermore, he was able to take actions, either directly or indirectly, that were equivalent in substance to exercising the right to dispose of the aforementioned property. “This confirms that registering the purchase in the name of the official’s daughter was a ploy to conceal the car’s actual owner,” the SAPO stated.
The agency also reported that, in order to avoid confiscation, the car was subsequently resold to a third party; however, this did not affect the court’s decision.
This was reported by the SAP.
Earlier, the High Anti-Corruption Court found Luka Kril, a judge of the Turka District Court in Lviv Oblast, guilty in a case involving the receipt of unlawful benefits and sentenced him to eight years in prison.
