The Verkhovna Rada established the "Seeking the Kingdom of God" association
A new inter-factional deputy association (IFA) has officially been established in parliament, bearing a name unusual for a legislative body: “Seeking the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness.”
The creation of this group was announced during a plenary session by First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Kornienko.
People’s Deputy Heorhiy Mazurashu, who is known for his controversial legislative initiatives, was elected head of the newly formed group.
The creation of the IFA took place in accordance with Article 63 of the Rules of Procedure of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, which allows deputies to unite for joint work outside of their factions.
“In accordance with Article 63 of the Rules of Procedure of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, I hereby announce the creation in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the ninth convocation of the inter-factional deputy association ‘Seeking the Kingdom of God and His Truth,’” Oleksandr Kornienko officially read the statement.

The emergence of a group with religious undertones sparked a lively reaction among the parliamentarians present in the chamber.
After the official announcement, the first deputy speaker could not resist making an ironic remark, which somewhat lightened the formal atmosphere of the session.
“The Kingdom of God certainly won’t get in our way,” added Kornienko, commenting on the deputies’ new initiative.
So far, members of the IFA have not released a specific action plan or a list of bills they plan to work on under their “spiritual” name.
Typically, inter-factional groups in parliament are formed to lobby for the interests of specific regions or economic sectors, or to address specific social issues.
However, groups with a philosophical or ideological orientation have been appearing more and more frequently in the Rada lately.
People’s Deputy Georgiy Mazurashu, who heads the group, has previously put forward proposals for changes to family and social legislation.
The new parliamentary group is likely to serve as a platform for promoting conservative or religious values in the legislative process.
Chernivtsi TCC refuted MP Mazurashu’s statements
Earlier, Georgiy Mazurashu, a member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Chernivtsi region, denied the authenticity of a video in which he and his wife allegedly stole a dog near a hotel. He pointed to signs of editing in the recording.
