Video: A cat against the backdrop of the burning Academy of Sciences in Kyiv has touched the hearts of internet users
A poignant yet chilling video, filmed in downtown Kyiv after yet another Russian attack on September 27, 2026, has gone viral on social media.
The footage of the capital after the strike once again shows the conditions under which Kyiv residents live every day. In the video, a cat can be seen on a windowsill, with the burning building of the Academy of Sciences in the background.
The published footage shows a cat sitting on the windowsill of an open window in one of the apartments, watching the street. Meanwhile, outside the window, the building of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine is on fire, and thick black smoke rises high into the sky—it was visible far from the center of the capital.
“The comfort of one’s own home, which can turn into a scene of destruction overnight. These images of Kyiv following yet another Russian attack serve as a reminder of the reality city residents face every day,” the caption accompanying the video reads.
