Video: In Odessa, a cat nearly started a fire in an apartment while its owner was asleep
In Odesa, a cat, while wandering across the kitchen countertops, accidentally pressed a button on the induction cooktop with its paw. Items lying on the surface caught fire.
The apartment’s owner woke up to the smell of smoke and managed to put out the fire before it spread further. In doing so, the man effectively saved not only his home but also his own life.
He posted footage of the aftermath on social media, after which the video was shared by local public groups.
Experts note that induction cooktops can pose a danger in homes where pets live, as a cat or other pet could accidentally activate the touch panel.
To prevent such incidents, it is recommended to use a protective glass or plastic cover, a silicone mat, or the control panel lock feature. These measures also protect the cooktop surface from pet hair and dirt.
