103 investigations have been opened into the deaths of soldiers in Skelya
In 2026, law enforcement authorities opened 103 criminal cases regarding the deaths of servicemen from the 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skelya” that were not related to combat operations.
According to the National Police, investigations are still ongoing in 61 of these cases. In three cases, suspects have already been notified of the charges against them, and one case has been referred to court with an indictment.
Another 41 cases have been closed, while the case files for 18 cases were sent to prosecutors to verify the legality of those decisions.
People’s Deputy Oleksandr Fedienko emphasized that the sheer number of cases does not automatically confirm that crimes were committed.
“103 criminal cases do not equal 103 proven crimes. The final legal assessment must be made by the investigators, the prosecutor’s office, and the court,” he noted.
According to the lawmaker, it is also noteworthy that out of the 103 cases, only three currently involve suspects, while 41 cases have already been closed.
Fediienko stated that he plans to continue reviewing each of these cases to ensure that the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the servicemen receive a proper legal assessment.
