Producers are lowering oil prices, but prices in stores aren't falling — State Statistics Service
In Ukraine, in March 2026, wholesale prices for butter fell, but retail prices remained unchanged.
According to the State Statistics Service, the average producer price decreased by 2% compared to February—to 289,000 UAH per ton. At the same time, the average retail price remained stable—around 109.85 UAH for 200 grams.
Experts attribute this discrepancy to an oversupply in the market and a decline in export prices. Meanwhile, suppliers are in no hurry to lower retail prices, sometimes stockpiling products in warehouses in anticipation of price increases.
In January–February 2026, Ukraine produced 13,100 tons of butter, which is 22.4% more than during the same period last year.
At the same time, exports declined: 2,600 tons of the product were shipped abroad in the first quarter—an 18.7% decrease year-over-year. In monetary terms, exports fell by 35.7% to $14.8 million.
The largest buyers of Ukrainian butter were Moldova, Azerbaijan, and Georgia.
The State Statistics Service notes that these figures do not include temporarily occupied territories and combat zones.
