Zaluzhny commented for the first time on the appointment of the new commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, General Valeriy Zaluzhny, has spoken publicly for the first time about personnel changes in Ukraine’s military leadership. He described the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in one word: “promising.”
While speaking with journalists, the diplomat also commented on reports of a possible change in his posting. According to him, he currently has no plans to move to another position.
Earlier that day, Zaluzhny reported that a meeting of the heads of Ukrainian diplomatic missions began with a trip to the frontline region of Chernihiv, after which it continued in Kyiv.
He noted that among the top priorities for Ukrainian ambassadors remain working toward establishing peace and strengthening Ukraine’s international leadership.
Separately, Zaluzhny emphasized that the key security guarantees for Ukraine are the development of its own defense capabilities in the context of modern high-tech warfare and the building of effective security alliances.
Zaluzhny made these remarks while answering a question from a journalist for “Glavkom.”
As a reminder, Zelenskyy confirmed the appointment of Umerov as head of the Foreign Intelligence Service.
On August 3, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree appointing former Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko as Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. Klymenko took the helm of the NSDC after serving as head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
