Zelenskyy: If Ukraine had received the licenses for the Patriot system four years ago, it would already be manufacturing them for Europe
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that as early as the first year of the full-scale war, he had asked then-U.S. President Joe Biden to grant Ukraine licenses to manufacture Patriot air defense systems.
According to him, an agreement has now been reached with U.S. President Donald Trump to grant such licenses.
“I spoke with President Biden during the first year of the war. I very persistently asked him to grant me licenses to manufacture Patriot systems. Now we have agreed with Trump that he will grant these licenses,” Zelenskyy said.
The president added that if Ukraine had received the necessary authorization four years ago, it would already be producing Patriot systems not only for its own needs but also for its European partners.
“If we had received them four years ago, we would already be manufacturing Patriot systems for everyone—believe me. And Europe—those who wanted and still want to have Patriot missile defense systems and missiles—would already have them. I am absolutely convinced of this,” the head of state emphasized.
