Zelenskyy explained how Europe can help kill more Russians
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the key form of assistance from European partners should be increased funding for Ukraine’s defense-industrial complex and intensified sanctions pressure on Russia.
During a press conference in Belgrade, the head of state emphasized that Ukrainian companies have the capacity to produce significantly more weapons, but this requires additional funding.
“We need money, but it’s not enough to just resolve the issue of funding—we also need to ensure that all this money is channeled in the right direction so that it is used to the fullest extent possible in Ukraine. Additional funds are needed so that the Ukrainian defense industry can produce twice as much, because the capacity is there,” Zelenskyy said.
The president also called on partners to strengthen sanctions against Russia’s military-industrial complex and energy sector.
“We are grateful for the 21st aid package, but it’s not enough. The most important thing for Ukraine right now is to defend itself against ballistic missiles. It is important to impose sanctions on Russian arms manufacturers and the Russian energy sector. It is important not to let Russia spend hundreds of billions on this war,” he said.
Separately, Zelenskyy emphasized the need to grant Ukraine licenses as soon as possible to manufacture not only American but also European weapons.
