Zelenskyy announced the successful testing of interceptors for Shahid rockets
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that two Ukrainian companies have successfully conducted combat tests of interceptors designed to counter “Shahed” drones. During the tests, a Russian high-speed “Shahed” was destroyed.
“We’re trying not to go into details yet regarding high-speed interceptors against high-speed ‘Shaheds.’ Two companies have successfully passed the tests—combat tests. An enemy ‘Shahed’ was destroyed; they (‘Shaheds’—ed.) were traveling at a fairly high speed. This is a major positive, to be honest. We want to review all the test results and explore how we can accelerate the process as much as possible and move to mass production. We are in talks with these companies, and contracts are already being signed,” he said.
Zelenskyy noted that a total of 67 companies are working on intercepting enemy jet drones. According to him, the example of the two companies mentioned gives cause for some optimism in the field of interceptor development. At the same time, the President noted, funding is needed. The head of state noted that work on this issue is ongoing.
“Yesterday, I spoke with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. We will meet with her in the near future. We are preparing some proposals on how to address the funding shortfalls,” he said.
The head of state made these remarks at the inaugural Carpathian 8 Summit, which brought together eight countries from the Carpathian region, according to Ukrinform.
Zelenskyy announced that agreements worth €1 billion are being prepared at the Carpathian Summit.
As a reminder, Ukraine received €3.3 billion from the EU for priority defense needs.
The EU will transfer €3.3 billion to Ukraine for missiles and drones — Anadolu Agency.
Ukraine could receive approximately 20 billion euros from the EU defense fund.
