Zelenskyy presented Ursula von der Leyen with Ukraine's first European order
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen with Ukraine’s first Order of Europe. The award ceremony took place during the celebrations marking Ukrainian Statehood Day in Kyiv.
According to the relevant decree, the head of the European Commission was honored for her outstanding personal contributions to supporting Ukraine’s strategic course toward full membership in the European Union. Her significant contribution to strengthening Ukraine’s resilience in defending the independence and security of all of Europe, as well as to strengthening international cooperation in the interests of democracy and peace, was also recognized.
During his speech, the head of state emphasized that the hearts of Ukraine and Europe have long been open to one another, and the opening of all negotiation clusters will officially cement this. Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude to Ursula von der Leyen for always believing in the Ukrainian people and for accompanying Ukraine on its journey from submitting its application amid mortal danger in 2022 to candidate status and, ultimately, accession negotiations. At the end of his speech, the president added that no one will ever be able to revoke this recognition, because Ukraine’s word is binding.

As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree awarding Robert “Madyar” Brovdi, commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces, the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, First Class.
On the occasion of Ukrainian Statehood Day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy conferred the title of “Honored Artist of Ukraine” on Andriy Khlyvnyuk, frontman of the band “Boombox.” The head of state signed the corresponding decree on July 15.
As a reminder, the Verkhovna Rada passed a law establishing a new state award—the Order of Europe. It will be awarded to Ukrainian citizens and foreigners for outstanding contributions to supporting Ukraine’s European course.
