Zelenskyy stated that China, India, Brazil, and South Africa could exert influence on Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that China, India, Brazil, South Africa, and other countries of the Global South can influence Russia and support diplomatic efforts to end the war. According to him, these countries currently lack a “consistently strong stance.” Zelenskyy also reported that over the course of the week, Russia launched more than 2,200 attack drones, about 1,650 aerial bombs, and 38 missiles at Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that a number of major powers could exert greater influence on Russia to bring the war to an end. These include, in particular, China, India, Brazil, and South Africa, as well as other countries of the Global South and the “Group of Twenty” nations. Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is constantly working with Europe, the U.S., Canada, Japan, Australia, and other partners to strengthen its defense and diplomatic efforts.

At the same time, he said, the stance of some countries in the Global South could be more proactive. “We are constantly working with Europe, the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, and other partners to strengthen our defenses and pursue effective diplomacy. But, unfortunately, we lack a consistently strong stance from China and India, Brazil and South Africa, the G20 countries, and the Global South,” the president said.

What Zelenskyy Said About the Influence of These Countries

According to Zelenskyy, each of the countries mentioned has certain levers of influence over Russia. “In fact, each of these countries has influence over Russia and can help make peace a reality,” he emphasized.

The president also linked international pressure on Russia to the issue of Ukraine’s security. “Building guaranteed, adequate security here in Ukraine means contributing to global security and stability,” Zelenskyy said. At the same time, these remarks represent the Ukrainian president’s assessment. Zelenskyy did not specify exactly what additional steps he expects from each of the countries mentioned.

Zelenskyy Described the Scale of Russian Attacks

In his statement, the president also provided data on Russian strikes against Ukraine this week. According to him, Russia launched more than 2,200 attack drones, dropped about 1,650 aerial bombs, and fired 38 missiles of various types. A significant portion of the missiles, according to Zelenskyy, were ballistic.

The president also reported on the consequences of the nighttime attack. “Unfortunately, there were fatalities from Russian strikes last night. Three people were killed in the Zaporizhzhia region as a result of the shelling. In Kyiv, a man was killed when a drone struck his home. My condolences to his family and loved ones,” Zelenskyy wrote.

According to him, residential buildings, energy facilities, and other civilian infrastructure were targeted. This includes the Odesa, Kharkiv, Sumy, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Poltava, Zhytomyr, and Kyiv regions.

A data center in Kyiv was struck twice

Separately, Zelenskyy reported an attack on a data center in the capital. According to him, Russian forces struck the data center in Kyiv twice this morning. Three people were injured in the first strike, including two children. “This morning, the Russians struck a data center in Kyiv twice. Three people were injured in the first strike, including two children,” the president said.

The companies themselves had previously reported attacks on Kyiv’s data centers. In particular, following a second strike on the Cosmonova data center, the company reported damage to the main core and operational issues with some of its services. Some Ukrainian media outlets also experienced temporary disruptions due to the damage to the data centers.

Ukraine continues to reach out to international partners

Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine will continue to work with international partners to strengthen air defense, secure military support, and exert diplomatic pressure on Russia. According to him, to end the war, it is important that as many countries as possible use their influence. “I thank everyone who is not standing idly by and is helping Ukraine,” the president added.

Zelenskyy thus called on China, India, Brazil, South Africa, and other countries of the Global South to more actively use their leverage to influence Russia. At the same time, the president did not specify any new commitments from these countries in his statement.
