Zelenskyy proposed building a drone manufacturing plant in the United Kingdom
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he is proposing to establish a large drone manufacturing plant in the United Kingdom and to share Ukrainian military technology and expertise with British partners.
According to the head of state, Ukraine seeks not only to maintain a high level of cooperation with the United Kingdom following the inauguration of new Prime Minister Andy Burnham, but also to deepen the strategic partnership.
“I want to build a large drone manufacturing plant in the United Kingdom, offer new technologies, and share them with our allies,” Zelenskyy said.
The president emphasized that Ukraine is ready to share with the United Kingdom the experience it has gained during the full-scale war and looks forward to a mutual exchange of knowledge and technology.
At the same time, Zelenskyy thanked London for the support Ukraine has received over the past four years. According to him, the United Kingdom has made a significant contribution to developing the Ukrainian military’s capabilities in the use of drones and defense against Russian airstrikes.
The head of state also stated that now is the time to “turn a new page in history” for Ukrainian-British relations.
In addition, Zelenskyy reported that following Andy Burnham’s appointment as prime minister, he had a “good conversation” with him. According to the president, the two sides discussed a number of important issues related to bilateral cooperation, though he did not disclose any details of the conversation.
He made these remarks in an interview with Sky News.
As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will meet with the new British Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, on July 27.
Russia may take steps in the coming months that will serve as a direct test of the readiness of the UK and its NATO allies to respond. The British publication Daily Mail reported this assessment, citing intelligence sources.
