Zelenskyy dismissed Kravchenko from the post of Prosecutor General
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree dismissing Ruslan Kravchenko from the post of Prosecutor General of Ukraine. Prior to this, on September 15, the Verkhovna Rada approved his dismissal. Kravchenko submitted his resignation on September 7 amid a National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) investigation in which his name appears in the case files.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree dismissing Ruslan Kravchenko from the post of Prosecutor General. The corresponding document No. 932/2026, dated September 15, was published on the head of state’s official website. Thus, Kravchenko officially left the post of Prosecutor General after the Verkhovna Rada approved his dismissal.
Kravchenko submitted his resignation on September 7
Ruslan Kravchenko had headed the Office of the Prosecutor General since June 21, 2025. He submitted his resignation on September 7. This occurred amid an investigation by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine as part of Operation “Carthage.” Kravchenko, along with his first deputy, Maria Vdovichenko, is named in the materials of covert investigative actions.
However, no charges have been filed against Kravchenko. The former Prosecutor General himself denies any involvement in the laundering of funds that may have been obtained from the illegal activities of call centers. He also denies reports of allegedly undeclared assets and calls the NABU’s accusations groundless.
Before his dismissal, Kravchenko announced that the NABU director was under suspicion
Another significant development in this story was Kravchenko’s actions regarding the head of the Anti-Corruption Bureau. On Monday, September 14, Kravchenko signed a notice of suspicion against NABU Director Semen Kryvonos.
Following this, NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office issued a joint statement. They stated that they view the Prosecutor General’s actions as a continuation of a systematic attack on the independence of anti-corruption agencies. Thus, Kravchenko’s dismissal took place against the backdrop of a sharp conflict between his office and anti-corruption agencies.
Kravchenko left for France after announcing his resignation
A separate issue arose regarding Kravchenko’s departure from Ukraine. He confirmed that he had left the country, explaining that it was for a business trip. According to Kravchenko, he traveled to France to participate in a hearing of the Parliamentary Network of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
However, PACE reported that Kravchenko and his representatives would not be participating in the relevant meeting. The Prosecutor General arranged his business trip to France starting on September 13—that is, six days after he submitted his resignation.
Zelenskyy Suspended Kravchenko Before His Dismissal
On September 14, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy suspended Kravchenko from his duties as Prosecutor General. At that point, Kravchenko had already submitted his resignation, but the final decision on his dismissal was to be made by the Verkhovna Rada.
On September 15, parliament approved Kravchenko’s dismissal. Following this, Zelenskyy signed the corresponding decree. Ruslan Kravchenko is now officially no longer the Prosecutor General of Ukraine. The text of the document has been published on the President’s website.
