Decline in dairy prices in Ukraine: forecasts and challenges for producers

Fatty dairy products in Ukraine will continue to become cheaper, and according to Olena Zhupinas, Deputy CEO of the Association of Milk Producers, the trend will continue until the first half of 2026. According to her forecasts, prices may drop by 30-35% by the New Year. The main reason for this phenomenon is the fall in the cost of global butter production, which has decreased by more than 30% since the beginning of summer, which has already been reflected in retail prices in Ukraine.

The unexpected decline in prices also affected the purchase price of raw milk. In mid-November, the price of extra-class milk that meets European standards fell by 17%. This is forcing many producers to operate at the margin of cost, and some are even suffering losses due to competitive pressure in the market. At the same time, problems with gray import confirmation and cheap cheeses from Poland threaten domestic production, in particular due to consumer outflow and unfavorable conditions for producers.
