11 injured after strike on apartment building near Krasnodar
In the village of Novaya Adygeya near Krasnodar, a drone attack caused a fire in an apartment building and a nearby car park, authorities reported. The head of the Republic of Adygea, Murat Kumpilov, reported.
"The most important thing is that there are no fatalities. Eleven people were injured, nine of whom were hospitalised, including two children," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
Kumpilov added that residents of the building were evacuated and taken to a temporary shelter. The municipal administration introduced a local state of emergency in response.
According to the Telegram channel Mash, 25 apartments were damaged in the strike. Baza reported that at least 15 vehicles were destroyed. Krasnodar city authorities confirmed that the drone raid caused no damage within the city itself.
Ukrainian OSINT projects Exilenova+ and Supernova+ claim that a missile from a Russian air defence system hit the building and parking lot. The Russian media outlet Astra, analysing multiple eyewitness videos including footage of the missile striking the building, reported the same.
Journalists noted that an electrical substation lies about a kilometre from the residential building and may have been the intended target of the Ukrainian drone.
On the evening of 20 January 2026, a large fire broke out in Novaya Adygeya (Republic of Adygea, Russia), accompanied by explosions. Local residents credited their air defence with intercepting the drone attack on the nearby refinery.
For context, Russian drones also attacked an oil depot and refinery on New Year’s Eve, causing fires. On the morning of 31 December, drones struck the FDGU plant “Temp” of Rosrezerv in Rybinsk, Yaroslavl region, Russia.
