241,000 Russian War Crimes: What Ukraine Has Documented During the War

Ukraine has created one of the world’s largest real-time systems for documenting war crimes. Modern forensic methods, digital technologies, and mechanisms of international cooperation are being used to collect evidence.

This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.

 Prosecutors are already building evidence bases for both national courts and international justice mechanisms.

Scale of the armed aggression

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 241,555 crimes related to Russia’s armed aggression have been recorded. Of these:

• 211,263 are classified as war crimes.

Victims of the War

As a result of Russian aggression, 16,789 people have been killed, including 684 children.
A further 40,337 people have been injured, including 2,369 children.

Destruction of infrastructure

In total, 303,668 civilian infrastructure facilities have been destroyed or damaged, including:

• 244,704 residential buildings;
• 4,962 educational institutions;
• 1,412 medical facilities;
• 310 religious buildings.

The collected materials form the basis for holding those responsible accountable and for restoring justice.
