A Russian GRU agent who planned two bombings in Vinnytsia was sentenced to 15 years in prison

In Vinnytsia, a court sentenced a Russian military intelligence agent who had been planning two terrorist attacks to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

According to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the woman was detained in March 2025 during a special operation. She planned to blow up a Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier’s car and a police administrative building using homemade explosive devices.

The woman began collaborating with Russian intelligence services through Telegram, where she was looking for an easy way to make money. After being recruited, she traveled to Vinnytsia, received the coordinates of a hideout, and retrieved two homemade bombs from there.

According to the Russian handler’s plan, the agent was to install hidden cameras with remote access near both targets. This would have allowed the Russian side to monitor the situation and remotely detonate the explosives.

The SBU detained the woman as she was setting up a concealed camera near a military vehicle. During searches, two explosive devices and a phone containing evidence of her collaboration with the enemy were seized from her.

The court found her guilty of treason committed under martial law.

As a reminder, the Security Service of Ukraine foiled a terrorist attack in the center of Rivne. According to the investigation, a Russian agent planted a homemade explosive device in a trash can near one of the government buildings. He then used a messaging app to inform his Russian handler that the mission had been completed.

Earlier, the SBU’s counterintelligence unit detained a Russian military intelligence agent in the Donetsk region who was guiding guided aerial bombs and strike drones in the Sloviansk area.
