Belousov effectively acknowledged the failure of the cargo drone program for the Russian Armed Forces

Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov has effectively acknowledged the failure of the program to develop the “Izdelie-80” cargo drone, which had previously been presented to Vladimir Putin as a promising project for the Russian military.

During a meeting with Putin, Belousov stated that by 2025, Russian troops will receive about 20,000 cargo drones of various types, while acknowledging that last year the “Izdelie-80” remained the primary model, which “was not of sufficient quality” and requires further refinement.

The “Izdelie-80” was manufactured by the company “Transport of the Future, whose former CEO, Yuri Kozarenko, was arrested in May on suspicion of fraud in connection with a state defense contract. According to Russian media reports, the investigation concerns the possible embezzlement of approximately 70 million rubles allocated for the production of drones.
