Ukrainian soldiers from the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Roman the Great demonstrated compassion by rescuing animals from the front lines. They modified a drone, which is usually used to deliver supplies, and used it to evacuate a cat and a dog.
The unusual operation to rescue the animals “by air” spanned 12 kilometers over the combat zone. The story of this rescue is linked to the fate of one of the soldiers who had been caring for a cat at his position but was recently wounded and hospitalized. His fellow soldiers decided not to abandon their friend’s charge and took the local dog with them as well.
“Soldiers from the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Roman the Great were sending food to their comrades at the position. The drone carrying the food returned with passengers—a cat and a dog,” UAnimals reported.
So instead of returning empty, the drone became a temporary shelter for the animals.
