Boris Johnson secretly visited the front lines in Ukraine to film a movie — The Telegraph
Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has directed a documentary about the Russia-Ukraine war. While working on the film, the British politician made an unannounced visit to the combat zone to personally document events on the front lines.
The 90-minute film, titled “Boris Johnson: Into the War Zone in Ukraine,” has already aired on the British television channel Channel 5. The politician’s main message is to urge the West to provide Ukraine with more advanced weapons and to justify the need for increased support from the United Kingdom.
Johnson explicitly calls the Russian invasion “terrorism” and describes the war itself as a clear-cut battle between good and evil. The film opens with tragic footage of a Russian drone attack on a civilian train, which killed six people. At the same time, the film showcases the resilience and ingenuity of Ukrainian soldiers, who, facing shortages, are forced to craft their own ammunition from whatever materials are at hand.
For security reasons, Johnson’s visit to the front lines took place under strict secrecy. The politician traveled incognito and at times even had to hide his face under a balaclava. Journalists note that on his very first night on the front lines, the former prime minister was awakened by a loud explosion—a Russian drone had attacked a nearby residential building.
The Telegraph believes that thanks to Johnson’s presence, the film has a chance to attract the attention of an audience that typically avoids war documentaries, thereby raising global awareness of the Ukrainians’ struggle.
