The girl who died during the attack on Chernihiv was supposed to celebrate her 10th birthday
Nine-year-old Viktoria Srebnyuk, who was killed on July 26 during a Russian attack on the ATB supermarket in Chernihiv, had come to the city with her mother and grandmother to buy groceries for her birthday.
A family friend, Vadym Medvid, shared this information in a comment to “Suspilne.” According to him, the girl was set to turn 10 on August 6. The family lives in the village of Mokhnatyn in the Novobilouska community.
The girl’s father, Andriy Srebnyuk, is a veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war but currently lives apart from his family. He learned of the tragedy from Viktoria’s mother. When he arrived in Chernihiv with a family friend, the child’s body was already at the morgue.
The mother of the deceased girl suffered burns over about 20% of her body and is in the intensive care unit at the Chernihiv Regional Hospital. Viktoria’s grandmother was not injured during the attack.
Currently, the family friend and the child’s father are making arrangements for the funeral. The funeral service for Viktoria is scheduled for July 28 in the village of Mokhnatyn.
