The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine denied reports of an attack on the Yagodin border crossing

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has denied reports of an alleged strike on the “Yagodin” border crossing on the border with Poland. According to Andriy Demchenko, a spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service, no hits on border infrastructure were recorded.

“Fortunately, there were no hits on border infrastructure, including the checkpoint,” Demchenko said in a statement to RBC-Ukraine.

Earlier, BBC News reported on a Russian strike near the Polish border. According to the publication’s sources, this time the strikes occurred several kilometers from the border.

Meanwhile, on September 17, Poland scrambled fighter jets after Russian attack drones were detected in western Ukraine.

According to the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces, military aircraft began operations in Polish airspace. Ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems were also put on alert.

Polish command emphasized that these measures are preventive in nature and aimed at protecting airspace, particularly areas adjacent to threat zones.

The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces continues to monitor the situation, and subordinate forces and assets remain on standby for an immediate response.

As a reminder, Poland will strengthen electronic security along its border with Ukraine.

The Polish Ministry of Finance has drafted legislative amendments that provide for the introduction of an electronic reservation system for freight transport at border crossings.

Poland has begun constructing new fortifications and reinforcing border crossing points along the border with Ukraine due to the growing threat from the Russian Federation.
