Photo: A march was held in Berlin in support of the residents of occupied Oleshky

On September 28, a rally was held in Berlin in support of the residents of Oleshky, a town in the Kherson region temporarily occupied by Russia. The goal of the event was to draw the international community’s attention to the humanitarian catastrophe in the town and the critical situation facing the civilian population.

The march took place under the slogan “Stop the Russian occupation of Oleshky.” It was organized by the Ukrainian civic movement Vitsche Berlin.

Participants marched through central Berlin from City Hall to the Russian Embassy. They carried signs calling for humanitarian aid, access to essential resources, and safe evacuation routes for the residents of Oleshky.

During the rally, participants appealed to German authorities and the international community to increase pressure on Russia and secure humanitarian access to people remaining in the occupied territory.

During the march, special attention was drawn to the critical humanitarian situation in Oleshky and surrounding settlements. Local residents are reportedly suffering from an acute shortage of food, drinking water, and medicine.

The participants emphasized that Russian occupation forces are obstructing the delivery of humanitarian aid and the evacuation of civilians, causing the situation for those remaining under occupation to continue to deteriorate.

During the march, participants also called for the safe evacuation of civilians and the provision of necessary humanitarian aid to the residents of Oleshky.

About 2,000 civilians, including at least 45 children, currently remain in the temporarily occupied town of Oleshky in the Kherson region. This was reported by Tetyana Gasanenko, head of the Oleshky City Military Administration.

The Ukrainian military used drones to deliver about 4 metric tons of food to residents of the occupied town of Oleshky. The humanitarian aid was distributed among 100 designated locations in the town.

The European Union is preparing a new, large-scale package of sanctions against Russia and is working to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the occupied city of Oleshky in the Kherson region. This was stated by Kaja Kallas, the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
