The General Staff confirmed the destruction of an occupiers' terminal, an oil depot, and a tanker belonging to Russia's shadow fleet

UA NEWS 23 May 2026 15:25
The General Staff confirmed the destruction of an occupiers' terminal, an oil depot, and a tanker belonging to Russia's shadow fleet

On the night of May 22–23, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked several strategically important infrastructure facilities belonging to the Russian occupiers. The targets included the Sheshkharis oil terminal, the Grushova fuel storage facility, and a tanker linked to Russia’s so-called shadow fleet.

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on its social media pages.

It is reported that:

  • On the night of May 23, 2026, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a number of key facilities belonging to the Russian occupiers. In particular, the “Sheshkharis” oil terminal (Novorossiysk, Krasnodar Krai, Russian Federation) was hit—a direct hit and a fire on the terminal’s grounds have been confirmed.

“Sheshkharis” is one of the largest Russian oil terminals on the Black Sea, part of the Transneft system. Its throughput capacity is up to 75 million tons of oil per year, and the volume of its tank farm is approximately 1.28 million m³. The facility handles the transshipment of oil and petroleum products for export and is involved in supplying the needs of the Russian military.

  • In the Novorossiysk area, the Grushova oil depot has been hit—a fire has been reported on the facility’s grounds.

The “Grushova” oil depot is a key component of the “Sheshkharis” complex and one of the largest tank farm complexes in southern Russia. The total capacity of the tanks is approximately 1.2–1.4 million m³. The facility is used for the storage, transshipment, and transportation of oil and petroleum products, including to support the aggressor state’s military logistics.

  • In the Black Sea, the area where the ships of the so-called “shadow fleet” of the Russian Federation are based has been struck. The destruction of the tanker CHRYSALIS has been confirmed.
  • Enemy communications hubs in Krasnorichenske, Luhansk Oblast, and in Smily, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, as well as a logistics depot in Frolivske, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, have been struck.
  • In the Donetsk region, an enemy ammunition depot in Prechystivka, Donetsk region, was struck.

As a reminder, Ukrainian defense forces have intensified strikes on Russian logistics in the occupied territories, which is already forcing the occupying authorities to restrict traffic on key routes. ISW analysts say this is creating systemic supply problems for Russian troops and slowing their operations on the front lines.

In the Russian city of Novorossiysk, fires broke out at several strategic facilities following the fall of drone debris, including an oil depot and the “Sheshkharis” fuel terminal.

Over the past 24 hours, the Russian army has lost another 950 soldiers in the war against Ukraine. The Ukrainian Armed Forces also destroyed dozens of pieces of equipment, including tanks, armored vehicles, artillery, and drones.
