I know more about Russia than Putin knows about Ukraine — Zelensky

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated that he does not intend to spend time listening to historical lectures from the Kremlin leader during potential negotiations.

According to the Ukrainian leader, manipulations of the past only delay the diplomatic process and prevent stopping the bloodshed.

The head of state emphasised that ending hostilities and moving towards genuine diplomacy does not require excursions into the times of Peter I or other pseudo-historical theories.

Zelensky believes such discussions are a deliberate tactic by the Russian side aimed at postponing a final peace.

“We respect history. But I don’t want to talk about it, because I don’t have time. I have my own view on why he started this, and I can talk about that and other things, but I don’t want to waste time on these historical questions, the reasons why he began,” the President said in an interview with journalist Piers Morgan.

Volodymyr Zelensky sharply criticised the narratives that the Russian dictator tries to promote to Western audiences and American politicians.

He is convinced that such arguments have nothing to do with the real reasons for the aggression and the current state of security in Europe.

“All this nonsense that he brings up with the Americans — about Peter I and so on — I don’t need it. To end the war and move towards diplomacy, I don’t need all this historical nonsense. Really. Because it’s all just to delay things,” the Ukrainian leader added.

It is worth noting that Zelensky has declared Ukraine’s readiness to join NATO.

Zelensky also wants new negotiations with Russia already in February.
