The Commander of the Special Forces responded to Sadovyi's criticism of the defense of Lviv
Robert Brovdy (call sign: Magyar), commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, responded to complaints from Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi regarding the effectiveness of the city’s defenses against Russian drones and urged people to refrain from criticizing the military.
The conflict was sparked by the mayor’s remarks that he had “a lot of questions” for the defenders, given that the city regularly funds the purchase of anti-drone systems.
In response, the Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces noted that of the 556 drones Russia launched on March 24, only 15 “suicide drones” reached their targets. He emphasized that this represents just 3% of the total.
Madyar emphasized that such an interception rate is unprecedented in global warfare.
“There isn’t even a ruler of that size at City Hall—no joke—there is no air defense system on planet Earth that, through the hands of our Warriors, can eliminate 95–97% of attacking drones deep within enemy echelons and lines, from the front lines to peaceful cities,” the commander emphasized.
The military commander called on civilian authorities to adhere to professional ethics and not to devalue the round-the-clock work of mobile fire groups.
“It’s not my place to give you advice. But it’s also not your place to criticize those who shoot them down day and night. Protect the people, not the forests. And we will continue to work in the sky,” Brovdi added.
Robert Brovdi also highlighted the intensity of enemy shelling, which has become a daily reality for Ukrainian air defenders.
He added that since the beginning of the year, not a single day has passed without Russia launching drones at Ukraine, and there are days when their number exceeds 400–500 units.
The commander emphasized that the city’s support for the army is a duty, not a reason for complaints in the style of customer service centers.
He called on Sadovyi to stop the rhetoric of a “customer filing a complaint” and to avoid criticizing the military personnel defending against Russian attacks.
Madyar was particularly outraged by the mayor’s evening statements, made against the backdrop of damage to the city’s historic center.
“Mr. Mayor of the beloved city of Lviv! I’m sorry, but please stop with that evening rebuke or customer complaint of yours—‘I have so many questions for everyone, we’ll have a conversation with the military, we buy every day…’—please stop,” he concluded.
As a reminder, on March 24, the Russians attacked Ukraine with over 400 drones.
Russian troops also carried out another combined attack on Ukraine, using strike drones and cruise missiles.
