The Kremlin has announced uncertainty regarding the location and timing of negotiations with Ukraine

The Kremlin has announced uncertainty regarding the location and timing of negotiations with Ukraine

The spokesperson for the Russian dictator, Dmitry Peskov, stated that at present there is no clarity regarding the holding of the next round of trilateral negotiations involving Ukraine, the United States, and Russia.

According to Russian propagandists, Peskov said that the previous location in Abu Dhabi (UAE) is currently unlikely “for obvious reasons,” alluding to the large-scale escalation in the Middle East and Iranian drone strikes on the Emirates’ oil infrastructure. The Kremlin emphasizes that as soon as there is specific information regarding new dates or an alternative venue, it will be announced officially.

The meeting was initially planned for March 5–6, 2026, but the security situation in the Persian Gulf region forced the parties to look for other options. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has already confirmed that the negotiation round has not been canceled, but it may be moved to Europe or Turkey. Potential cities under consideration include Geneva, Vienna, the Vatican, or Istanbul. Kyiv insists on maintaining the schedule, as the key items on the agenda remain the parameters of a ceasefire and the monitoring of security zones.

Despite the diplomatic uncertainty, the United States continues to insist on the importance of continuing the dialogue within the framework of Operation “Epic Rage,” which combines military pressure on Russia’s allies with the search for a peaceful solution for Ukraine. At the same time, the European Union suspects Moscow of deliberately delaying the process, using the instability in the UAE as a pretext to postpone complex political decisions. The next few days will be decisive in determining whether the parties will be able to sit at the negotiating table this week.

Official representatives of the European Commission stated that Russia is using any pretext, including the security situation in the Middle East, to postpone the next round of peace negotiations with Ukraine.

The next round of trilateral peace negotiations between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia may take place within a few days in Europe. Possible locations include Switzerland, Turkey, Austria, or the Vatican, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

President Zelensky also held talks with German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The main topics included the supply of missiles for air defense, the situation at the front, prospects for peace negotiations, and the Chancellor’s visit to China.
