Crimea is facing shortages of electricity and fuel, as well as rising prices: what we know

On the temporarily occupied Crimean Peninsula, the situation regarding electricity supply, fuel shortages, and food prices is deteriorating. In a number of towns and villages, residents are already preparing for potential heating problems this winter.

In Simferopol, the electricity supply remains relatively stable, though power outages occur regularly in some parts of the city. Due to concerns about the upcoming heating season, some families are already considering leaving the peninsula. There are also reports of a significant increase in food prices: according to one source, prices have risen by 40–50%.

In Bakhchisaray, power is cut off for several hours every day, while in some of the surrounding villages, electricity is available only for a short time each day. As a result, local residents cannot fully use their refrigerators and are already preparing for the winter.

In Dzhankoy, an important logistics hub for Russian troops, there are reports of shortages of certain goods and supply problems due to a lack of fuel. According to CEMAAT Media, wholesale suppliers are facing difficulties delivering products to stores.

The publication also notes that following strikes on oil infrastructure in Novorossiysk, difficulties have arisen with fuel deliveries to Crimea. According to the source’s estimates, if the situation does not change, the gasoline shortage on the peninsula could worsen by the end of summer.
