The Crimean Bridge may gradually lose its reliability
The expert suggested that the Crimean Bridge may experience a gradual decline in reliability over time due to heavy traffic and external factors. At the same time, it is noted that the land corridor to the occupied territories has been under intense pressure from the Defense Forces for nearly a month, which complicates movement.
Currently, the Russians are not using the Crimean Bridge to transport explosive cargo, but if it is incorporated into military logistics, it may not last long. This was stated by Pavlo Lakiychuk, a 1st-rank captain in the Ukrainian Navy Reserve and head of security programs at the “Strategy XXI” Center for Global Studies.
He noted that the situation in Crimea is tense not only because of the weather but also due to strikes by the Ukrainian Defense Forces on Russian military facilities.
“The Crimean Bridge is the Russians’ last hope,” Lakiychuk added.
According to him, the Ukrainian side is not concerned with Russian tourists who are in Crimea without understanding the situation; instead, attention is focused on Russia’s military presence.
He emphasized that the strikes on Crimea are affecting the entire logistics of Russian troops in the south. According to him, there are two main logistics arteries in the south, and one of them has already been significantly disrupted.
Lakiychuk noted that after the Crimean Bridge was damaged, the Russians largely redirected their military logistics to the Kerch ferry crossing, but it too has been hit and has lost some of its capacity.
He also added that the land corridor in the south is under constant pressure from the Ukrainian Defense Forces, which complicates the movement of Russian cargo.
According to his assessment, the logistics of Russian troops in the south have been significantly weakened, and if the Crimean Bridge continues to be used for military purposes, it will remain vulnerable, Radio NV reports.
