Lavrov accuses the US of reneging on Ukraine agreements
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the United States is currently unwilling to adhere to its own proposals for resolving the situation in Ukraine.
According to the diplomat, these proposals were made during a meeting between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Anchorage, Alaska, in August 2025.
Lavrov noted that despite the “positive atmosphere” of last year’s talks, the Trump administration’s actual policy remains tough. In particular, Moscow is dissatisfied with the continued sanctions pressure and the introduction of new restrictions against Russian energy giants.
Lavrov emphasised that, allegedly, the American side itself initiated a solution to the Ukrainian issue, which Russia agreed to. He stressed that the Kremlin had expected a swift transition to full-scale cooperation once Washington’s conditions were accepted.
Recall that Putin announced the strengthening of Russia’s air defence amid the possible transfer of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.
Additionally, over the past week, Russia has deployed more than 3,000 aerial strike assets against Ukraine.
