Over the course of one day, from the morning of 28 January to the morning of 29 January 2026, Russian forces carried out nearly 10 shelling attacks on seven settlements across five territorial communities in Sumy region. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy and Okhtyrka districts.

The regional security situation as of 29 January was reported by the Sumy Regional Military Administration.

According to the Administration, there were no civilian casualties as a result of the shelling over the past day. However, in the Velyka Pysarivka community, a 39-year-old man was killed on 27 January as a result of an enemy drone attack.

Settlements in the Krasnopillia, Shostka, Konotop, Velyka Pysarivka and Okhtyrka communities came under fire.

Russian forces used mortars, FPV drones, unmanned aerial vehicles and guided aerial bombs.

As a result of the attacks, civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged or destroyed.
