Moscow woman threatened to set Lenin’s Mausoleum on fire
A court in Russia has sentenced Olga Fedotova to four years’ imprisonment for knowingly making a false report about preparing an explosion on Red Square and setting fire to Lenin’s Mausoleum. While intoxicated, the woman called emergency services and claimed she was carrying half a kilogram of dynamite.
This was reported by Nexta.
During her detention, law enforcement officers found no explosive substances on her. She explained her actions by saying she wanted to demonstrate her “coolness” to her friends. Despite the absence of any real threat, the court imposed an actual prison sentence due to the specific nature of the sites mentioned in the threats.
Meanwhile, the First Western District Military Court in St Petersburg sentenced 17-year-old schoolgirl Eva Bagrova to four years in a penal colony for placing photographs of fighters from the Russian Volunteer Corps (RVC — an armed formation of Russian citizens fighting on Ukraine’s side) on a school noticeboard.
In addition, the Southern District Court in Rostov-on-Don handed down a verdict against Ukrainian serviceman Dmytro Popovych, increasing his sentence to 29.5 years. He was sentenced to serve his term in a maximum-security penal colony in a case classified by Russia as terrorism.
