Two killed in Russian attack in Dnipropetrovsk region

Russian forces shelled the Zaitsevska community in the Synelnykove district of Dnipropetrovsk region. As a result of the strike, two people were killed and seven others were injured.

This was reported by Oleksandr Hanzha, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, on Telegram.

“A school was damaged, and ten private homes were destroyed. Rescue teams recovered the bodies of two deceased from the rubble,” Hanzha said.

Among the seven injured are three children: two girls aged 8 and 17, and a 17-year-old boy. Three of the injured have been hospitalized, with doctors assessing their condition as moderate, while the others are receiving outpatient treatment.

Hanzha later clarified that 15 homes were destroyed, and several dozen more were damaged. He visited the site of the attack and spoke with local residents.

All emergency services are working to respond to the aftermath of the strike. Charitable organizations are providing building materials so residents can quickly repair broken windows and damaged roofs.

Compensation for destroyed or damaged housing will be available through the state program “eVidnovlennia”, which also provides new homes for those whose houses were destroyed. Local authorities have prepared temporary shelters for residents who lost their homes; so far, one person has requested such assistance.

Earlier, reports calculated North Korea’s earnings from the war against Ukraine. Pyongyang may have received substantial financial and technological compensation from Russia for supplying weapons and deploying military personnel. South Korea’s Institute for National Security estimated that from August 2023 to December 2025, North Korea gained between $7.67 billion and $14.4 billion, including payments for artillery shells, ballistic missiles, and deployment of over 20,000 soldiers, generating around $560 million annually.

Approximately 80% of the compensation is expected in the form of confidential military technologies, aiding North Korea’s missile-nuclear program and air defense systems. These inflows of “hard currency” and technology largely bypass international sanctions, turning the war in Ukraine into a testing ground and modernization opportunity for Pyongyang’s military.

Additionally, medical facilities in Moscow have reported the first cases of North Korean doctors working there, reflecting Russia’s attempts to address severe workforce shortages in healthcare using labor from Pyongyang. South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun confirmed that Ukraine has assured him that two North Korean soldiers captured by Ukrainian forces will not be returned to Russia.
