In the Kharkiv region, a Russian drone attacked bomb disposal experts; one person was killed and others were injured

In the Kharkiv region, a member of the police bomb squad was killed and several other people were injured, some seriously, as a result of a targeted attack by a Russian drone. 

The tragedy occurred on Sunday, June 7, near the village of Chystovodivka in the Izyum district. A specialized unit responded to a call from local residents to neutralize a dangerous object—an unidentified enemy drone that had crashed but failed to detonate.

While the unit was conducting demining operations in the area, another Russian UAV delivered a precision strike on the law enforcement officers’ service vehicle. A police bomb disposal expert was killed in the powerful explosion at the scene. In addition, three of his colleagues from the unit, as well as one civilian who was nearby, sustained injuries and trauma of varying severity. Leaders of the district police department, an investigative team, and medical personnel promptly arrived at the scene of the tragedy and provided emergency care to all the victims.

Investigators from the Kharkiv Regional Police documented the consequences of yet another callous war crime committed by Russian occupation forces against representatives of humanitarian missions. Information regarding this incident has been officially entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for severe punishment for violations of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder.
