Hero of Ukraine Oleksandr Dovhach Killed on the Eastern Front
Today, 9 March 2026, during the execution of a combat mission on the Eastern front, the commander of the 39th Tactical Aviation Brigade, Hero of Ukraine Colonel Oleksandr Dovhach, was killed.
This was reported by the command of the Ukrainian Air Force.
Oleksandr Dovhach led one of the key aviation units of the Ukrainian Air Force. Under his direct command, the brigade carried out devastating strikes on strategic enemy targets from the very first days of the full-scale invasion.
The commander personally conducted hundreds of combat sorties, demonstrating exceptional professionalism and courage. He successfully destroyed enemy command posts, military equipment, communication nodes, and also provided cover for Ukrainian bomber aviation.
Colonel Dovhach’s combat path spanned the hottest sectors of the front across the country. He actively participated in the battles for the liberation of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Kherson, and the strategically important Snake Island.
It is worth recalling that folklorist Bohdan Pidhornyi also died in the war.
Additionally, the head of the Civil Society Institute, Roman Tkachuk, was killed during the war.
