Tense situation near Dronivka: occupiers amassing forces in the Serebrianskyi Forest
The situation in the area of Dronivka in Donetsk region remains difficult, as Russian occupation forces are trying to concentrate equipment and manpower in the Serebrianskyi Forest with the aim of launching a further offensive.
This was reported by the press centre of the Eastern Group of Forces.
According to the military, since the beginning of the year the enemy has intensified the accumulation of resources in the forested area on the Sloviansk axis. The ultimate goal of the Russian army’s actions is to establish full control over Dronivka and advance towards Platonivka and Zakitne.
Ukrainian defenders are systematically striking enemy concentrations of equipment and personnel in the Serebrianskyi Forest, destroying transport and manpower of the adversary.
In the area of responsibility of the Eastern Group of Forces, over the past day Russian troops suffered significant losses — 373 occupiers were eliminated. In addition, 1,907 unmanned aerial systems of various types and 65 units of weapons and military equipment were destroyed, including two tanks.
The Defence Forces are paying special attention to countering enemy drone operators: over the course of the day, 47 enemy UAV crews were hit.
On the night of 7 January, Russian forces carried out a massive aerial attack on Ukraine, using an Iskander-M ballistic missile and 95 attack drones from various directions. Air defence forces destroyed the vast majority of enemy targets.
