The occupiers have come up with a new excuse for the water shortage in Donbas
The Russian occupation administration has changed its communication strategy regarding the critical water supply situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk Oblast.
This was reported by the Center for Information and Analysis.
Now, instead of promising to improve the situation after capturing new cities, the invaders are accusing Ukraine of mining key infrastructure facilities.
Previously, the occupying authorities systematically assured the local population that a stable water supply would be restored immediately after taking control of Sloviansk.
It is there that the important nodes of the “Siverskyi Donets–Donbas” canal are located, which is the main lifeline for the region.
However, due to their inability to achieve their military objectives, the collaborators’ rhetoric has shifted dramatically.
According to the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD), the Russians are now promoting the claim that the Ukrainian side has mined the water canal, rendering it inoperable.
Experts note that such statements are not coincidental but serve as a propaganda cover for the crimes of the Russian Federation’s army.
In reality, it is Russian troops who are deliberately destroying the water system’s infrastructure in the Donetsk region territories controlled by Ukraine.
“The occupying authorities are unable to meet the basic needs of the population, but are persistently trying to convince people that Ukraine is to blame for everything,” the CPD emphasized.
Creating myths about landmines allows the invaders to shift the blame for the humanitarian catastrophe they themselves caused.
As a reminder, the Russians shelled 8 settlements in the Donetsk region.
Putin also stated that a stable water supply in Donbas is possible only after the entire region has been captured.
