Occupiers forced a resident of Myrnohrad to apologize for “insulting the Russian Federation”

In the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk region, the occupation authorities announced the detention of a resident of Myrnohrad. The man was forced to publicly apologize for allegedly “insulting the Russian army.” This was reported by journalist Denys Kazanskyi on his Telegram channel.

According to occupation resources, the detention took place in the area of Avdiivka. The man was allegedly detained by officers of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, after which a so-called “preventive conversation” was conducted. In a video released by the occupiers, the detainee apologizes and explains his behavior as being influenced by “Ukrainian propaganda and fear.” In Russian media reports, Myrnohrad is referred to as “Dimitrov.”

This detention is an example of how the occupation authorities use civilians for propaganda and to demonstrate control over the population. Public apologies and staged videos serve as a demonstrative tool of intimidation, while the person’s actual guilt is irrelevant.

This case once again underscores that in the occupied territories Russia systematically persecutes civilians, imposes its own “truth,” and uses people to create propaganda narratives.
