A third lieutenant colonel from the Russian Federation's 41st Army was killed during the attack on Donetsk

A third lieutenant colonel from the Russian Federation's 41st Army was killed during the attack on Donetsk

Following the missile strike on Donetsk on August 26, it was reported that another Russian lieutenant colonel affiliated with the Russian Armed Forces’ 41st Army had been buried. This is already the third officer of that rank whose death has been reported since the attack.

According to available information, the third lieutenant colonel was a recent graduate of the Military Academy of Logistics and Supply—he graduated in 2025.

Thus, he is likely an officer involved in military logistics and supply support for Russian troops.

Earlier, it was reported that two other lieutenant colonels from the 41st Army had been killed. One of them held a position at the headquarters of the air defense division and served as deputy commander of the troops; the other served at the headquarters of the operations division, in the command and control section, as a senior officer.

The strike on Donetsk on August 26 was previously linked to a possible hit on the headquarters of the Russian Federation’s 41st Combined Arms Army. However, this information was not initially sufficiently corroborated.

However, the emergence of information about the burials of three lieutenant colonels associated with the 41st Army following that attack may support the theory that a major military facility was struck.

“At first, I was skeptical about the news that the army headquarters had been hit, but I’m gradually coming to believe that it was indeed hit,” the author of the study noted.

At present, there is no official confirmation from the Ukrainian command regarding the strike on the headquarters of the Russian Federation’s 41st Army, so this version remains unconfirmed.

This was reported by a researcher who tracks Russian military casualties.

Lieutenant Colonel Andriy Moiseenko was killed during a Ukrainian Armed Forces strike on Russian military facilities in the temporarily occupied city of Donetsk. According to the KIU OSINT project, he was a senior officer in the operations directorate of the headquarters of Russia’s 41st Guards Combined Arms Army.

The “Russian Officers Killed in Ukraine” project has uncovered evidence of the death of another officer from Russia’s 41st Combined Arms Army. This is Lieutenant Colonel Artem Akimov, who served as deputy commander of the army’s air defense command. Researchers speculate that he may have been killed during a Ukrainian strike on a command post in Donetsk on August 26, though this theory has not yet been independently confirmed.

On July 27, in occupied Donetsk, the Ukrainian Defense Forces eliminated Oleg Shutov, an employee of the so-called “DPR MGB Special Operations Center.” Previously, the SBU had identified him as the perpetrator of the murder of Major General Maksym Shapoval.
