Poland scrambled its air forces in response to a large-scale missile attack on Ukraine
The Polish Armed Forces put all available defense systems on high alert following another combined strike by Russia on Ukrainian territory.
On the night of February 26, the Polish Operational Command launched additional pairs of fighter jets and early warning aircraft.
These measures were a reaction to the active use of missiles and attack drones by the aggressor near NATO’s borders.
The country’s military leadership deployed all necessary forces and means to monitor and control its own airspace. Ground-based air defense systems and radar reconnaissance units were placed on the highest state of readiness to prevent potential incidents.
Polish military officials confirmed that these steps are purely preventive and aimed at ensuring the safety of citizens and the country’s territorial integrity. According to the official statement, the command is continuously monitoring the current situation.
Meanwhile, in Ukraine, the attackers targeted industrial facilities and residential areas in the Poltava region. A private house in the Pechersk district of Kyiv was destroyed by a Russian strike. A Shahed drone hit a five-story building in Kryvyi Rih. In Kharkiv, a Russian missile struck a multi-story building, leaving casualties.
