Russia sent a soldier with broken legs to the front lines, after which he went missing

Ivan Krasnokutsky, a 43-year-old native of the Donetsk region who served in the Russian army, was sent back on a combat mission in the Luhansk region after suffering a serious injury and despite numerous medical contraindications. His current whereabouts are unknown.

According to ASTRA journalists, Krasnokutsky served as a corporal in the 5th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces. In June 2025, he sustained an explosive-induced injury during combat operations. Doctors diagnosed him with multiple shrapnel wounds to both legs, as well as a displaced gunshot fracture of the tibia. Following this, a military medical commission deemed him temporarily unfit for service.

Subsequently, doctors confirmed the presence of shrapnel fragments in his body, post-traumatic osteoporosis, and other complications. In October 2025, military doctors recommended that the servicemember be referred again to the military medical commission based on relevant medical indications; however, according to ASTRA, this was never done.

In April 2026, Krasnokutskyi underwent another examination, following which he was again deemed temporarily unfit for service. In addition to the consequences of his severe injury, he was also diagnosed with a digestive system disorder and viral hepatitis.

At the same time, according to ASTRA, in June 2026, he was referred to a preliminary military medical commission, where his medical records were allegedly not properly reviewed. Despite the doctors’ previous findings, he was deemed fit for service and sent to a combat position.

Currently, contact with Krasnokutsky has been lost, and his fate remains unknown. The publication was also unable to contact his relatives.

This was reported by the Russian publication ASTRA.
