Ukraine’s Air Defence neutralises 135 of 156 Russian drones overnight
From the evening of 11 January, Russian forces carried out a large-scale drone attack across Ukraine.
According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the enemy launched 156 strike drones, including Shahed, Gerbera, and other modified types.
The main launch directions were Millerovo, Kursk, Oryol, Bryansk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as temporarily occupied Crimea, particularly the Chauda area.
The vast majority of the UAVs — around 110 — were Shahed-type drones. The attack lasted several hours and was complex in nature.
Ukrainian aviation units, surface-to-air missile systems, electronic warfare forces, mobile fire groups, and unmanned systems of Ukraine’s defence forces were involved in countering the attack.
According to preliminary information, as of 08:00 on 12 January, air defence forces had destroyed or suppressed 135 enemy drones. Successful interception was recorded in the north, south, east, and central regions of the country.
Despite the effective work of the defenders, 16 drone strikes were recorded in 11 populated areas, as well as debris from downed drones falling in two locations.
