Air defense forces shot down 127 drones during a nighttime Russian attack on Ukraine

During the night and morning of March 22, 2026, the Ukrainian Armed Forces neutralized 127 attack drones out of the 139 deployed by the enemy. 

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, as of 08:30, aviation units, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups managed to shoot down or suppress most aerial targets in the north, south, and east of the country. Despite the high effectiveness of air defense, strikes by 8 drones were recorded at 7 locations, as well as the fall of debris from downed drones at 7 additional sites.

The massive attack began after 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, when Russia launched Shahed, Gerber, Italmas, and other types of drones from eight different directions, including Orel, Kursk, and the temporarily occupied Crimea. About 80 of the total were Shahed-type kamikaze drones. To repel the attack, the Ukrainian military deployed integrated strike and electronic warfare systems, which minimized the consequences of yet another act of Russian aggression against civilian and critical infrastructure.

On the night of March 22, 2026, Russian drones struck settlements in the Kyiv region, with the most damage recorded in the Brovary district. 

As a reminder, Russian troops attacked a residential area in Zaporizhzhia: there is damage and people have been injured.

The Russians also attacked four Ukrposhta branches; employees were injured.

In the village of Maidan in the Kramatorsk district of the Donetsk region, a woman was killed and four other people were injured as a result of a Russian drone attack.
